Treaty One Zip-Up Hoodie
As local business owners and citizens of Winnipeg, it’s essential to acknowledge that we live on Treaty One Territory – the original territories of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Dene peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
But to us, it’s about so much more than just honouring the land we call home. It’s about acknowledging our government’s wrongs and promoting reconciliation. It’s about embracing Indigenous culture and celebrating our Indigenous success stories. It’s about supporting our Indigenous artists, makers and entrepreneurs. It’s about connecting with our Indigenous communities and inspiring hope for the future.
Designed in collaboration with local illustrator Leticia Spence, our Treaty One collection was introduced in June 2021. Centred around a vibrant representation of fire, the design fuses a traditional geometric pattern inspired by beadwork and regalia with a contemporary take on First Nations culture. It also includes the location coordinates for Lower Fort Garry, where Treaty 1 was signed on Aug. 3, 1871.
Inspired by Japanese loopwheel fabric, the marled fleece featured in the collection is super soft and seriously comfy. Coveted for its intricate texture, vintage appearance and unique inconsistencies, each piece truly is one of a kind.
